Baseball Recap: Marshall Wins Going Away Against Northview

The Marshall Lions got the win against the Northview Knights on Friday by a conclusive 10-1. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Marshall let Payton McGuire and Reed Ramey run wild. McGuire went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ramey went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Marshall is 4-1 when McGuire posts two or more runs, but 4-6 otherwise. Connor Burrows also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Marshall and bumps their season record up to 8-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Northview, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marshall will welcome Terre Haute South Vigo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight. As for Northview, they will be playing at home against South Putnam at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
