This season hasn't been kind to the Dugway Mustangs, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were outmatched by Mount Vernon at home and fell 72-28. Dugway was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-15.
Despite the loss, Dugway still got an impressive performance from Tanner Thackeray, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hazen Bullcreek, who scored eight points.
Dugway bumped their record down to 0-9 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.8 points per game. As for Mount Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dugway will challenge Utah School for the Deaf & Blind at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Vernon will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Milford at 6:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Milford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Thursday.
