Fabens hasn't had much luck against San Elizario recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Fabens will face off against San Elizario at 6:00 p.m. Fabens has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Fabens took on Clint on Tuesday. Fabens lost 25-8 to Clint.
Alexssa Gallegos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask San Elizario). They blew past Mountain View 21-1 on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Victoria Fernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-5. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, San Elizario got a massive performance out of Caylee Venegas, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. That's the most hits Venegas has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Shivanna VBromell, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
San Elizario was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain View only posted a batting average of .158.
San Elizario's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-17-1. As for Fabens, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Fabens came up short against San Elizario in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 17-14. Can Fabens avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
