Softball Recap: Unionville Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Unionville owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They blew past the Oxford Hornets 9-0. Considering the Longhorns have won five matches by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Peyton Brown made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. She also allowed four hits, marking her first of the season. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Smith, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Lily Daniels was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Unionville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Oxford, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Unionville will host East at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oxford, they will be playing at home against Tome at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
