The Schulenburg Shorthorns will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Weimar Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Schulenburg had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past Flatonia with points to spare, taking the game 43-28. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Schulenburg's ten-point performance the matchup before.
Meanwhile, Weimar got themselves on the board against Hearne on Friday, but Hearne never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 26-0 margin over the Eagles. The result was nothing new for Weimar, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.
Schulenburg's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Thorndale (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 37.5% over those games). Weimar has been no stranger to the win column this season, as they've started out with wins in six of their first eight games, giving them a 6-2 record.
Schulenburg came up short against Weimar in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, falling 12-7. Will Schulenburg have more luck at home instead of on the road?
