The Meadows School is 1-6 against Sports Leadership & Management since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mustangs will square off against the Bulls at 3:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Wednesday, The Meadows School made easy work of Sunrise Mountain and carried off a 19-9 victory. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Miners: they've now won four in a row.
The team relied heavily on Leighton Bekhor, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Tessa Rosenstein was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
The Meadows School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are 9-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Sports Leadership & Management got the win against Valley on Wednesday by a conclusive 17-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulls.
Mya Schweisthal made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Carmen Castro and Naima Ralston did most of the damage at the plate: Castro went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one double, while Ralston went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Ralston has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Lexi St. Pierre, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
The Meadows School's record now sits at 10-11. As for Sports Leadership & Management, their record is now 18-3.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. The Meadows School hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .433. However, it's not like Sports Leadership & Management struggles in that department as they've averaged .531. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
The Meadows School might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from Sports Leadership & Management in their previous matchup on April 8th. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
