Pearl-Cohn posted their closest victory since September 27, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-33 win over the Springfield Yellow Jackets. The victory continues a trend for the Firebirds in their matchups with the Yellow Jackets: they've now won five in a row.

Several Yellow Jackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kason Woodson, who rushed for 54 yards and one score, and also threw for 95 yards and one touchdown. Another back making a difference was Jaidon Hurst, who rushed for 76 yards and one TD.

Pearl-Cohn's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Springfield, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Looking ahead, Pearl-Cohn will challenge Bartlett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Springfield, they will head out on the road to take on Liberty Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
