Penasco is 1-9 against McCurdy since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Penasco Panthers will head out on the road to take on the McCurdy Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Penasco is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Penasco, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 64-48 loss to Mora. Penasco has not had much luck with Mora recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, McCurdy pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 75-59 fall against Mesa Vista. McCurdy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losing side was boosted by Lucas Martinez, who scored 26 points along with four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Ryan Montoya was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Penasco has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for McCurdy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.
Things could have been worse for Penasco, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 61-45 loss to McCurdy in their previous meeting back in January. Can Penasco avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
