The New Philadelphia Quakers will take on the Meadowbrook Colts at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Meadowbrook will be up against a hot New Philadelphia team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Quakers were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Newcomerstown on Friday.
New Philadelphia let Ellie Mason and Sara Cardani run wild. Mason went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Cardani went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Cardani has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Jackson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: New Philadelphia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Meadowbrook entered their tilt with Edison on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Wildcats 17-3.
Addy Sichina was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Jordyn Vargeson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
New Philadelphia's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Meadowbrook, their victory bumped their record up to 14-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. New Philadelphia hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Meadowbrook struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
New Philadelphia couldn't quite finish off Meadowbrook in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 8-6. Can the Quakers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
