Robertsdale is 0-7 against the Yellowjackets since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Robertsdale Golden Bears will head out on the road to face off against the McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Robertsdale had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Chickasaw 52-49.
Robertsdale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tanner Williams led the charge by scoring 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kole Singler, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, McGill-Toolen can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They blew past Faith Academy, posting a 63-34 victory on the road. Given McGill-Toolen's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the Rams are ranked 233rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Robertsdale's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-16. As for McGill-Toolen, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Robertsdale was dealt a bruising 78-42 defeat at the hands of the Yellowjackets in their previous matchup back in January. Can Robertsdale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
