Callaway added to the longest winning streak in 5A Region 2 this week by beating Vicksburg, 31-12. This was the team's 11th consecutive win.
Callaway was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating the Gators. Daryl Jones' team came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Ridgeland's dynamic duo of Parker Lohman and Xavier Marion proved tough for Pearl to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lohman threw for 225 yards and 1 touchdown and Marion had 108 yards receiving. Quad Winder helped Ridgeland's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 89 yards.
Pearl's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ledarius Carpenter has thrown for 2,097 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Demorrious Brown has 51 catches for 1,054 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Chargers and the Pirates. Callaway enters the contest ranked 24th in the state, while Pearl ranks 13th.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when John Perry's team takes on the Chargers. The Pirates' offense has racked up 407 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Callaway has allowed only 103 on the year.
Germantown's Chester Lewis is a mere 89 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 145 carries Lewis has accumulated 911 yard this year.
There should be lots of points scored when the Chargers and Pearl face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Callaway comes in having scored 385 this season, while the Pirates have scored 407. The Chargers scored 31 points last week as they topped Vicksburg.
