Caney Creek and Cleveland are an even 4-4 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Caney Creek Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Cleveland Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Caney Creek and ten for Cleveland.
Last Tuesday, Caney Creek had to suffer through a rough 68-40 loss at the hands of Grand Oaks. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Caney Creek in their matchups with Grand Oaks: they've now lost five in a row.
The losing side was boosted by Yeiry Zamudio, who scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Harrah, who scored 6 points.
Meanwhile, Cleveland took a serious blow against College Park on Tuesday, falling 64-13. While losing is never fun, Cleveland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1303rd, while College Park is ranked 500th).
The losses dropped Caney Creek to 2-12 and Grand Oaks to 7-8.
Caney Creek came up short against Cleveland when the teams last played back in January, falling 46-40. Can Caney Creek avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
