The North Fork Miners's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 52-32 walloping at the hands of Olathe. While losing is never fun, North Fork can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Pirates are ranked 112th).
Despite the loss, North Fork still got an impressive performance from Sidney Neff, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Neff scored 15 or more points. Alyssa Lovelace was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Olathe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyra Gray out in front who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Gray has scored at least a third of Olathe's points. Another player making a difference was Kiandra Liles, who scored 12 points along with six assists and six steals.
North Fork has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Olathe, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
North Fork is on the road again on Friday and plays the Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Gunnison is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Olathe will take on the Cowboys at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
