With a playoff game on the line, the Juniata Indians rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 21-7 win over Meadville. That's two games straight that Juniata has won by exactly 14 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Juniata to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wyatt Ehrenzeller, who rushed for 42 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 116 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Meadville to a paltry 137 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Juniata's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out four times before it was all said and done. In that department, Lane Peiper was the leader with two sacks.
The victory (which was Juniata's third in a row) raised their record to 8-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.67 points. As for Meadville, their loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-3.
Juniata will head out on the road to face off against Selinsgrove at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Selinsgrove will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Meadville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
