Sewickley Academy came out on top against Hillel Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run third inning. Sewickley Academy blew past Hillel Academy 12-2. The victory was some much needed relief for Sewickley Academy as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Nolan Donnelly made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Sewickley Academy got a massive performance out of Billy Pietragallo, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Pietragallo is becoming a predictor of Sewickley Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 0-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Charlie Scally, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Monessen's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Sewickley Academy, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-9.
