Esperanza is 8-2 against Foothill since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Aztecs will welcome the Knights at 3:15 p.m. Esperanza has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Esperanza fell victim to Sunny Hills and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 19-0 to the Lancers. The defeat continues a trend for the Aztecs in their meetings with the Lancers: they've now lost four in a row.
Esperanza saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leilani Thomas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Foothill had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They never let the Warriors get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory.
Bianca Casella made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Foothill got a massive performance out of Tabby Herr, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Avery Victer was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Foothill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.
Esperanza's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Foothill, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
