The West Central Trojans can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 64-57 victory over Tri-Township. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Leading West Central to victory were Bryce Nannenga and Brendan Grindstaff. Nannenga scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Grindstaff scored 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grindstaff has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Connor Marlatt, who scored five points along with five assists and four steals.
Despite the loss, Tri-Township still got an impressive performance from Dillon Stewart, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Stewart has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Isaiah Bartels was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.
West Central's win ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-13. As for Tri-Township, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
West Central and Hebron will face off at 8:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hebron will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something West Central surely won't give up without a fight. Tri-Township will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Tri-County at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Tri-Township focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday.
