Canyon View is 7-1 against Richfield since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Canyon View Falcons will square off against the Richfield Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Canyon View beat Grantsville 21-13. The win made it back-to-back wins for Canyon View.
Canyon View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxon Jensen out in front who threw for 178 yards and two touchdowns. Canyon View also got help from Deegan Davies who showed off his sure hands for 157 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Richfield put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Ogden, posting a 35-0 win at home. The result was nothing new for Richfield, who have now won eight games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Reggie Hafen, who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Beck Giblette, who rushed for 28 yards and two touchdowns.
Canyon View's win was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.2 points per game. As for Richfield, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Saturday's game as Canyon View and Richfield haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Canyon View commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Richfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Saturday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Canyon View ended up a good deal behind Richfield in their previous meeting back in October, losing 28-14. Can Canyon View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
