Softball Game Preview: Hesperia Scorpions vs. Apple Valley Sun Devils

Hesperia is 1-9 against Apple Valley since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Scorpions will face off against the Sun Devils at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Apple Valley will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Hesperia extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Scorpions blew past Burroughs 12-2. The Scorpions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Marlie Munoz was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jenevy Hidalgo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Meanwhile, Apple Valley made easy work of Serrano on Wednesday and carried off a 13-4 win. The Sun Devils haven't had any issues with the Diamondbacks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Makaylee Cerf made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Apple Valley got a massive performance out of Khloe Beserra, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Madison Buzzard, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Hesperia's record is now 13-6. As for Apple Valley, their record now sits at 7-9-1.

Hesperia might still be hurting after the 25-1 loss they got from Apple Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Can the Scorpions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
