Sierra Grande is 0-4 against Hoehne since March of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Sierra Grande Panthers will face off against the Hoehne Farmers at 4:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Sierra Grande is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since February 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 40-38 win over La Veta.

Sierra Grande can attribute much of their success to Jaylyn Quezada, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten boards, and Eneria Quintana, who went 7 of 16 to rack up 17 points and five steals. Quezada also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Sierra Grande is undefeated when she posts at least five steals, but 2-6 otherwise. Alexandra Garcia was another key player, putting up five rebounds and five steals.
Sierra Grande smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Hoehne waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They breezed past the Mustangs to the tune of 55-14. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Farmers had established a 29 point advantage.
Hoehne's win came from a few key players Sierra Grande will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Braylee Foster, who went 8 for 18 en route to 17 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylah Crosson, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 11 boards.
Hoehne pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.2 points over those games. As for Sierra Grande, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sierra Grande has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Hoehne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Sierra Grande was taken down by Hoehne 61-10 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hoehne's Ellegra Gutierrez, who went 8 of 10 on her way to 18 points and three steals.
