District 10 Region 3 AA recap September 17, 2013
Hickory's Davon Tindall rumbled for the longest rushing play in District 10 Region 3 AA this season in his game against Wilmington Area last week. Tindall ran for 80 yards on the play and finished with 80 on the day as his team beat the Greyhounds.
Sharon moved up to 355 from 427 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Tigers climbed the ranks as a result of topping Titusville 52-0.
Jared Graham was a passing and rushing force as Grove City topped Reynolds. He completed 5 passes for 61 yards and also ran for 59 yards. Graham's key target this week was Foster Reznor, who caught 4 passes for 45 yards.
Matt Voytik put up the best numbers in passing as Hickory beat Wilmington Area. He had a total of 4 completions for 74 yards.
Reznor was the best receiver in the league this week as the Eagles bested the Raiders.
Reznor was the best running back in District 10 Region 3 AA this week. He ran for 106 yards on 15 carries as Grove City beat Reynolds. Jared Sample also contributed to the rushing game with 98 yards on the ground.
6-foot-1 quarterback Voytik of William Brest's team is the league leader in passing yards this season with 330. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Luke Houpt. The Greenville star has 8 catches for 158 yards.
Two of the top teams in the league will go toe-to-toe this week when Greenville takes on Sharon. The Trojans' offense has racked up 93 points this season, earning them the top spot in the league, while Jim Wildman's team has allowed only 12 on the year.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Hornets and Jeff Bell's team face off next week.
Next week's game between Hickory and the Eagles will feature an aerial matchup as Voytik tests his arm against Reznor's defensive ability.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Greenville takes on the Tigers. Brian Herrick's team is currently in second, while Sharon is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Trojans take on the Tigers. Greenville has allowed 31 points this season, while Sharon has given up 12. The Trojans allowed 7 points last week as they defeated Saegertown.
The Rockets fell to the Tigers 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
