Maxwell hasn't had much luck against Maywood/Hayes Center recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Maxwell Wildcats will take on the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Maxwell comes in on three and Maywood/Hayes Center on four.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maxwell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kristyn Cheek, who went 7 of 13 en route to 19 points along with six boards and three steals. That's the most points Cheek has posted since back in February of 2024. Emory Christensen was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Maxwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Maywood/Hayes Center took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 64-8 win over Sutherland. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 25 points or more this season.
Maywood/Hayes Center's win came from a few key players Maxwell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Caylie Softley, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 16 points in addition to six boards and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Karissa Stengel, who went 5 of 6 en route to 12 points and seven rebounds.
Maxwell is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.2 points per game. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Maxwell has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 31.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Maywood/Hayes Center struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Maxwell was dealt a bruising 72-32 loss at the hands of Maywood/Hayes Center in their previous meeting two weeks ago. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Maxwell was down 39-18.
