Centura is 10-0 against Gibbon since January of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Centura Centurions will head out on the road to square off against the Gibbon Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. Centura will be strutting in after a victory while Gibbon will be coming in after a loss.
Centura took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They strolled past Cozad with points to spare, taking the game 47-28. That 19 point margin sets a new team best for the Centurions this season.

Centura's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Kennedy Davis, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 blocks, and Taya Taukiuvea, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and five steals. That's the most blocks Davis has posted since back in February of 2024. Hope Mcdonald was another key player, putting up nine points and six boards.
Meanwhile, Gibbon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Amherst, falling 52-28. The Buffaloes were down 45-14 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Centura will have to contain Brooke Sell as she made an impact in Gibbon's last game. She almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 rebounds. Sell is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Piper Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.
Even though they lost, Gibbon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.
Gibbon's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Centura, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Centura has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Gibbon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Everything came up roses for Centura against Gibbon in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-23 victory. In that contest, Centura amassed a halftime lead of 51-14, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
