It was a good run, but The Calvert Trojans unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Oglesby 64-27. While losing is never fun, Calvert can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Oglesby is ranked 14th).
Kyler Fossett went supernova for Oglesby, rushing for 254 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Ej Aviles, who rushed for 63 yards and three touchdowns.
Calvert now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Oglesby, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvert will take on Bell County HomeSchool at TBD on Saturday. As for Oglesby, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buckholts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Buckholts is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
