Phoenix Day School for the Deaf was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 15th to 11th in VI Section III (8 Man).
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rancho Solano Prep, 61-13. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Spartans.
Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Nick Smith threw for 359 and seven touchdowns and Matt Munsil had 200 yards receiving. On the ground Greyson Boyll chipped in 84 yards. Boyll helped Scottsdale Preparatory Academy's passing attack out by catching four balls for 108 yards.
5-foot-9 quarterback Matthew Martinez of Rancho Solano Prep is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1897. He has also thrown 27 touchdowns. On the ground, Salt River's Daniel Lopez has rushed for 1307 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Munsil. The Scottsdale Preparatory Academy star has 58 catches for 1171 yards.
The marquee game in VI Section III (8 Man) this week will be the clash between Bagdad and Gilbert Christian. The Sultans enters the game ranked fifth in the state, while the Knights ranks 10th.
In 149 carries Lorenzo Ruiz has accumulated 996 yard this year.
Bagdad and Valley Lutheran played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Bagdad eventually emerging with a 21-16 victory.
