The Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Lakers put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 50-41 win over New Buffalo. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Our Lady of the Lake Catholic has scored all year.
Despite the loss, New Buffalo still got an impressive performance from Andres Becerra, who scored 15 points. The contest was Becerra's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samuel Tripp, who scored eight points.
Our Lady of the Lake Catholic's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for New Buffalo, they bumped their record down to 1-3 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Our Lady of the Lake Catholic will square off against Eau Claire at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eau Claire will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 298th, while Our Lady of the Lake Catholic is ranked 93rd). As for New Buffalo, they will head out on the road to face off against Howardsville Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Howardsville Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully New Buffalo likes a good challenge.
