The Tavares Bulldogs lost against the Umatilla Bulldogs back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Tavares was outmatched by the Bulldogs on the road and fell 53-21. While losing is never fun, Tavares can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 458th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 179th).
Umatilla was led to victory by Trinity Brennan and Lauren Archer. Brennan scored 19 points along with three steals, while Archer dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brennan has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alina Wilson, who scored two points along with four steals.
Tavares has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Umatilla, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.
Tavares will face off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Umatilla, they and the Bulldogs will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
