The East Columbus Gators will head out on the road to face off against the Perquimans Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Columbus is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
East Columbus fell victim to West Columbus' stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 55-0 loss at the hands of the Vikings. While losing is never fun, East Columbus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 387th, while West Columbus is ranked 191st).
Perquimans can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They walked away with a 27-18 victory over Gates County. The victory was just what Perquimans needed coming off of a 42-13 defeat in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Perquimans to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jarmon Overton, who rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown.
West Columbus' win bumped their season record to 9-1 while East Columbus' defeat dropped theirs to 2-8.
East Columbus was taken down by Perquimans 48-14 in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can East Columbus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
