The La Salette Academy Lions waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They secured a 59-55 W over First Baptist Christian. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Charles Prather was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eamon Martin, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
La Salette Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for First Baptist Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. La Salette Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Assumption Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 13th. Assumption Academy comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for First Baptist Christian, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Homefires at 6:00 a.m. Hopefully Homefires focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 back in December of 2023.
