Caroline is 1-8 against James Monroe since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Caroline Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the James Monroe Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Caroline and seven for James Monroe.
Last Friday, Caroline took a serious blow against Courtland, falling 45-7. While losing is never fun, Caroline can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 221st, while Courtland is ranked 83rd).
Meanwhile, James Monroe pushed their score all the way to 35 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 42-35 to Culpeper County.
Caroline has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for James Monroe, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Caroline barely slipped by James Monroe when the teams last played back in October of 2022, winning 42-41. Does Caroline have another victory up their sleeve, or will James Monroe turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
