Stewart County has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Mitchell County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Stewart County managed to keep up with Seminole County until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Stewart County was the victim of a rough 72-52 loss at the hands of Seminole County. Stewart County has struggled against Seminole County recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Mitchell County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their tenth straight loss. They were dealt a 57-22 loss at the hands of Pelham. While losing is never fun, Mitchell County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 492nd, while Pelham is ranked 224th).
Stewart County's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Mitchell County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.
Stewart County was able to grind out a solid victory over Mitchell County when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 59-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stewart County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
