The Rio Hondo Prep Kares will head out on the road to face off against the Vista del Lago Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Rio Hondo Prep is ranked 239th, while Vista del Lago is ranked 238th).
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rio Hondo Prep had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Orange by a score of 22-13. Winning may never get old, but Rio Hondo Prep sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Rio Hondo Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Penunuri, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown. Nate Curtis and his 91 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Rio Hondo Prep's win.
Sonora typically have all the answers at home, but on Thursday Vista del Lago proved too difficult a challenge. Vista del Lago took down Sonora 21-7. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Vista del Lago.
Vista del Lago can attribute much of their success to Fabian Bolanos, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson Hicks, who picked up 102 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Rio Hondo Prep to 11-1 and Vista del Lago to 9-3.
