Basketball Recap: Jellico Sets Scoring Season-High Against Cosby

Jellico was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss. They took a 75-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cosby Eagles. One positive for the Blue Devils, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the defeat, Jellico saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendall Osborn almost dropped a double-double on 26 points and nine boards. The dominant performance also gave Osborn a new career-high in assists (four). Another player making a difference was Kloey Evans, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Jellico smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Jellico's loss dropped their record down to 1-18. As for Cosby, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-10.

Jellico will be playing in front of their home fans against Coalfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coalfield will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Jellico surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cosby, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-36 win against Cloudland on the 27th.
