The Valmeyer Pirates pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 72-58 bruising from SIUE East St. Louis Charter. Valmeyer has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kejuan Rives was his usual excellent self, scoring 32 points along with six rebounds and three steals for SIUE East St. Louis Charter. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rives has scored all season. Jaylen Wiley was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Valmeyer has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-19 record this season. As for SIUE East St. Louis Charter, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 19-9.
Valmeyer and Dupo will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Valmeyer is facing Dupo at the right time seeing as Dupo is stuck on a 21-game losing streak. As for SIUE East St. Louis Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against Mt. Olive at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
