The Polson Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Bigfork 81-49. Polson lost against Bigfork in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 58-43 score last time.
Several Pirates players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Lichtenberg, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Torrin Ellis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Polson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bigfork, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Polson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Butte Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Butte Central Catholic presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Polson in Montana (Butte Central Catholic is ranked eighth, while Polson is ranked 47th). Bigfork will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Browning at 7:15 p.m. on January 11, 2024.
