7A District 1 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Kenny Scott of Buchholz ran for the longest rushing play in 7A District 1 this season against Santa Fe last week. Scott scampered for 60 yards on the play and finished with 258 on the day as his team beat the Raiders.
Lincoln extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Rickards, 39-3. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Trojans.
Ben Hatch put up the best numbers through the air as Chiles bested Lake Weir. He finished with a total of 14 completions for 290 yards and five touchdowns. Hatch's favorite target this week was Marcus Holton, who caught two passes for 80 yards.
Myles Gaines was the best wideout in the league this week as Lincoln topped the Raiders. Gaines racked up three receptions for 83 yards. Taj Williams helped Lincoln's passing attack out by catching one ball for 28 yards.
The Timberwolves' Hatch and Jonathan Scaringe have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 7A District 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Hatch has thrown for 885 yards this season, while Scaringe has 11 catches for 227 yards. Buchholz's Scott leads the league in rushing yards with 661.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mark Whittemore's team takes on Yusuf Shakir's team. As it stands, the Bobcats are in fifth, while the Trojans are in first.
Lincoln was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Rickards 39-3. The Trojans came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
