Football Recap: Booker T. Washington Takes a Loss

After flying high against Miami Springs last Thursday, Booker T. Washington came back down to earth. The Tornadoes had to suffer through a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Vero Beach Indians. The Tornadoes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.

Booker T. Washington's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wryan Jenkins, who threw for 150 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes. 84 of Jenkins' passing yards were hauled in by Darnell Wesby, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Efrem White had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 68 yards and three scores on only six carries, while also throwing for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 81.2% of his passes for Vero Beach. Jonathan Hillsman was another key player, rushing for 49 yards and one TD.

Booker T. Washington's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Vero Beach, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Booker T. Washington will square off against Homestead at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tornadoes will be up against the Broncos' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Vero Beach, they will take on Rockledge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
