Greenville is 0-2 against North Mac since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Greenville Comets will head out on the road to face off against the North Mac Panthers at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Greenville has eight straight wins, North Mac has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Friday, Greenville was fully in charge, breezing past Southwestern 48-7 at home. Greenville's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Meanwhile, North Mac's 8-2 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 36-20 to Staunton/Bunker Hill. North Mac gained 59 more yards on the day, but it was Staunton/Bunker Hill that made the best of use of them.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Payne Mclean, who picked up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Dane Vance, who threw for 200 yards and a touchdown.
Greenville's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.0 points per game. North Mac has not been sharp this season, as they've lost seven of their first eight matches, which leaves them at a 1-7 record this season.
Greenville was taken down by North Mac 50-14 in their previous meeting back in September of 2022. Can Greenville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
