Baseball Game Preview: West Valley Mustangs vs. Temescal Canyon Titans

West Valley hasn't had much luck against Temescal Canyon recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, West Valley didn't have quite enough to beat San Jacinto Valley Academy and fell 4-3. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Caden Bridwell and Vincent Figueroa put in work no matter where they played. Throwing, Bridwell pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Figueroa tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in 11 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Bridwell went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Figueroa got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. West Valley is 5-1 when Figueroa posts two or more runs, but 9-12 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Temescal Canyon came up short against King on Tuesday and fell 5-2.

JT Carlile was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Harrison McGarvey, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

West Valley's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Temescal Canyon, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-5-1.
