Clearview hasn't had much luck against Wellington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Clippers will venture away from home to take on the Dukes at 5:00 p.m. Clearview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Clearview turned things around against Oberlin on Monday. They put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 13-6 win. The Clippers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by seven runs or more this season.
Sean Mettler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered six earned runs on eight hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Clearview got a massive performance out of Jahmir Sims, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Sims is becoming a predictor of the Clippers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-5 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Bristor, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Clearview kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Wellington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 8-2 to Brookside. That's two games in a row now that the Dukes have lost by exactly six runs.
Gabe Toth made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Johnnie Kinter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Clearview's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Wellington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Wellington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Clearview has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .459. It's a different story for Wellington, though, as they've only averaged .364. Will they be able to contain Clearview's hitters?
