South Fork has gone 8-2 against Okeechobee recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will host the Brahmans at 7:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
South Fork is returning to their home field after beating Morningside Academy on theirs, despite the fact Morningside Academy has dominated at home this season. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Eagles on Monday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Jada Dames made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Elliana Hernandez and Abbie Dewaters did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez got on base in three of her eight plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Dewaters went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Dewaters has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emma Ortiz, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
South Fork was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Okeechobee entered their tilt with Moore Haven on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Terriers with a sharp 15-2 victory. The Brahmans not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th.
Like South Fork, Okeechobee also got a great game from a two-way player: Lilly Larson. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. Larson was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joleyne Nunez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI and three runs. Melaine Bonilla was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
South Fork has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.4 runs over those games. As for Okeechobee, their victory bumped their record up to 6-10.
Okeechobee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Fork hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. It's a different story for Okeechobee, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain South Fork's hitters?
Everything went South Fork's way against Okeechobee when the teams last played back in February, as South Fork made off with an 8-1 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Brahmans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
