The Arapaho Indians had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They managed a 52-47 win over Balko.
Balko's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emelie Trentham, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Trentham scored a full 36.2% of Balko's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Aspen Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with 6 rebounds.
Arapaho's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Balko, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Arapaho will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cheyenne/Reydon at 6:30 p.m. on January 26, 2024. As for Balko, they will head out on the road to face off against Felt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Felt and Balko are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
