Baseball Recap: King's Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sequoia

King's Academy scored the most runs they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of the Sequoia Ravens by a score of 10-9. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ravens apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

King's Academy got a good showing from Taiyo Peterson, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Peterson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Nate Plata and Ethan Johnson stepped up to the plate in a big way. Plata scored a run while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Johnson went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Plata also hit two doubles, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dominic Myung, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for King's Academy and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Sequoia, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

While King's Academy had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
