The Apex Friendship Patriots will square off against the Orange Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
While Patriots fans will have to keep waiting for their team to come home, they shouldn't be too worried about the road trip considering the result of Wednesday's season opener. They blew past Seaforth 14-3 on Wednesday. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Sydney Joyce was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Joyce was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Apex Friendship let Kaylee Marquis and Cheyenne Christman run wild. Marquis scored three runs while going 3-for-3, while Christman went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. What's more, Marquis posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Parker, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, everything went Orange's way against South Granville on Wednesday as Orange made off with a 10-1 victory.
Addison Guentensberger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Katie Carden was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one stolen base while going 4-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Carden, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple.
Orange was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Granville only posted a batting average of .115.
Apex Friendship skirted past Orange 16-15 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Does Apex Friendship have another victory up their sleeve, or will Orange turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
