If the Lakewood Leopards were feeling good off their 70-49 takedown of the Union Spartans last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Lakewood was the victim of a rough 71-48 defeat at the hands of North Duplin on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Lakewood has suffered yet this season.
Lakewood lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cameron Williams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Williams grabbed two or more steals. Juan Parker Jr. was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Donavan Armwood was the offensive standout of the game as he scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dujuan Armwood, who scored 12 points.
Lakewood dropped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for North Duplin, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9.
Lakewood will face off against Hobbton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hobbton has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for North Duplin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Union at 7:30 p.m. Union comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
