AA Region 6 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Lovett and Wesleyan played the most hotly contested game in AA Region 6 this week, with Lovett eventually emerging with a 24-21 victory.
Hapeville Charter made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,578 from 10,089. The advance stemmed from a 38-20 victory over Hapeville Charter last week.
The Wolves' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Will Anderson threw for 172 and two touchdowns and Jahmai Jones had 86 yards receiving. On the ground Miles Smith chipped in 76 yards. Sam Carver helped Wesleyan's passing attack out by catching four balls for 46 yards.
Wesleyan's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wolves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Anderson has thrown for 1943 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Jones has 56 catches for 947 yards. Smith leads the league in rushing with 664 yards.
Jones of the Wesleyan's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 53 receiving yards in this week's game against Greater Atlanta Christian to get there.
Entering into this week's contest against the Spartans, Anderson is short just 57 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Greater Atlanta Christian takes on Wesleyan. The Spartans are currently in first, while the Wolves are in third.
Greater Atlanta Christian led AA Region 6 in scoring this week after putting up 38 points on Winston Gordon's team.
