The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs waltzed into their contest Wednesday with ten straight wins but they left with 11. They put the hurt on Plainfield with a sharp 61-39 win. Franklin Community might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.
Franklin Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Scarlett Kimbrell out in front who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Kimbrell hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Lauren Klem was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Plainfield's loss came despite strong showings from Hannah Menser and Payton Benge. Menser scored 11 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Benge scored ten points along with six rebounds. Menser scored a full 28.2% of Plainfield's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Franklin Community pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Plainfield, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Community won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Roncalli at 7:30 p.m. on January 11th. Roncalli is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.8 points per game. Plainfield is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Franklin Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th.
