It was a good run, but the Bunker Hill Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Maiden, falling 74-41. Bunker Hill has struggled against Maiden recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the defeat, Bunker Hill had strong showings from Damireona Burch, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds, and Elianna McClain, who scored six points along with three steals. Burch is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games she's played.
It was another big night for Khiara Culliver, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds for Maiden. Culliver continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Willow Bass, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Bunker Hill's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Maiden, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Bunker Hill will head out on the road to take on East Burke at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in East Burke's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Maiden, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Bandys at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Bandys is coming into the game with four straight wins on the road, meaning Maiden will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
