Softball Recap: Hermiston Wins Going Away Against Southridge

Hermiston made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Southridge, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Suns with a sharp 20-4 win on Friday. Considering the Bulldogs have won six matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Piper Roberts looked comfortable as she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Kenley Venoy was a standout: she scored four runs while going 4-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Karsyn Botefuhr, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.

Hermiston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Hermiston's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Southridge, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.

Coincidentally, Hermiston and Southridge will both be playing Kennewick the next time they take the field. The Suns will head out to face the Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bulldogs will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
