The Grapevine Faith Christian Lions will be playing at home against the Bishop Dunne Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Grapevine Faith Christian was beaten by Legacy Christian Academy 45-14. While losing is never fun, Grapevine Faith Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 565th, while Legacy Christian Academy is ranked 225th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Clayton Sobecki, who threw for 155 yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Wagoner, who picked up 93 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 48-18, which was the final score in Bishop Dunne's tilt against Legacy Christian Academy back in October.
Grapevine Faith Christian's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 4-5. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 7-1 Grace Community and 5-4 Episcopal School of Dallas (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.1% over those games). As for Bishop Dunne, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Grapevine Faith Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 171.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bishop Dunne struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Grapevine Faith Christian ended up a good deal behind Bishop Dunne in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 43-28. Will Grapevine Faith Christian have more luck at home instead of on the road?
